I heard a radio interview with an 18-yr-old kid from Dallas who was paid $800 for his spot in the iPhone line last week. It later came out that th person paying the $800 was an Apple employee. Sick desperation or marketing genius? You be the judge.

Entourage: There and back again
Well I finally decided to try Entourage on for size. One of the cool things about Microsoft Entourage is that it allows you to choose the manner in which attachments are encoded (MIME, b64, etc) which makes it easier to deal with sending messages to people who have odd e-mail clients that don’t always handle attachments correctly (ie. AOL, etc.). So I switched to Entourage for about a week before giving up and going back to Apple Mail. Entourage has a lot of shortcomings. It didn’t handle IMAP correctly–ie. messages tagged for deletion weren’t getting deleted from my inbox view. Secondly, messages which were supposed to be automatically moved to a folder using a rule were getting dumped to the trash folder if the original target folder didn’t exist–that was kind of a pain. Also, the UI of Mail just seems more fluid and navigates faster (especially the search function). So I’m back on Apple Mail as of this morning.
