According to a patent application filed by Apple, there may soon be a charger that uses induction to transfer energy from the charger to the phone. Not sure how much range is supported, but I don’t think you’ll need a Tesla coil. Cool stuff. Check it out. Also purported in this patent is the ability to charge the phone at angle, which perhaps goes without saying if you’re charging wirelessly.
