I got an e-mail news letter from ZD today claiming that Microsoft’s “rivals” in the EU are claiming that Vista is straight-up illegal. But this got me thinking. Could Microsoft really have rivals in the EU, seeing as how they have none here in the US?
Well, here’s Webster’s definition of rival:
One of two or more striving to reach or obtain something that only one can possess. One striving for competitive advantage; one that equals another in desired qualities.
In Ted’s book, however, there must be a significant threat to be considered a true rival, and there’s still no significant threat in the areas where Windows dominates.
