Well, after clicking a few lovely links, I discovered a great plug-in that adds support for the
Nokia N73 to iSync, and I was able to get my whole address book and calendar synced up with the phone. This is great news, as N73 users who are also Mac users would find their lives very difficult indeed if their shiny new phones weren’t syncable. Having iCal talk to this phone really increases its likeable-ness. Here’s how I did it:
First off, the “hack” referenced on several blogs to make the N73 show up in iSync doesn’t work. Supposedly, if you modify a resource file inside the iSync package, the N73 supposed to show up and be syncable. I had no such luck, despite the Mac’s Bluetooth noticing the N73 right away.
What I ended up doing was grabbing this plug-in, which solves the problem. Once installed per the included read-me, the N73 icon showed up in iSync, just like it was there out of the box. Very handy indeed. Next stop, Flickr.

I have done all of the above, but when I go to isync and press scan devices it finds my N73 and says “This device not supported by iSync..”
Any ideas??
Simon
P.S. Im using an ibook g4
Hi Ted –
Glad to find your site – nice notes on the phone. I’m seriously considering buying it here (I live in China right now), and it sounds like it’s working pretty well for you. I’m wondering if you’ve ever tried to use it as a bluetooth modem with your macbook? I have a 1st gen macbook core duo 2gz.
Thanks!
Eric
Hi Ted,
Thanks for the info. I followed all your instructions and seemed to be able to pair my N73 Internet Edition w/ my powerbook G4 just fine. Unfortunate when i try to sync, I get “An unexpected error occured. Device “Jonathan” synchronization failed.” Maybe you can shed some light on why this is happening? Thanks again!
-Jonathan
Hi Ted,
I have followed your instructions, using a macbook and N73, but did not work. Got the following message:
“This device not supported by iSync..”
Tom
Have tried the plug in with ISYNC using the instructions but I get the following message:
The following plug-in doesn’t work with this version of iSync. Click the arrow to show the plug-in, move or delete it, and then open iSync again
The plug in shown is;
nseries.phoneplugin
Any advice as to what I should try next?
(We have a MacBook)
thanks
Jon
Same problem as above, do you put the plugins straight into the root directory of the HD or should they go somewhere else, it seems ISynch doesn’t see them at all just placed in the root. Has anyone actualy made this work or is it just another thing that only works if your a computer whizz. can any speak German and see the responses on the plug-in page to see if the problem is solved there?
OK I figured it and it works. Just drop the folder phone plugins into the Library folder. Make sure you deleate all of the old connections and just follow the instructions as they are written. It really works, I even managed to get my entourage clanader and contacts onto the phone.. Most impressed
It does work. Thanks Steve, was having the same problems until I read your last entry. Not started using the phone yet but at 1st glance it appears everything has synched OK. Cheers.
Thank you all!
I just switched from N70 to N73 to discover I could not iSinc… it took 2 secs to find this site, download the plugin and have evertyhing transferred beautifully.
THANK YOU!

Mac OS X version 10.4.9 has N73 support built in, so just make sure you\’re running that and you\’ll be fine.
