Andy thinks the prospects for Fonality’s future in the enterprise space are bright, perhaps even brighter than Digiums. One key difference between Fonality’s offering and Digiums is that Fonality’s is turnkey. Not familiar with Fonality? Here, I’ll boil it down: For a thousand bucks you get a scalable VoIP server with PSTN interface termination for a sliver of the cost of a CallManager Express or an Avaya small office unit.

Sorry, but Fonality just plain sucks. The product is unstable and can not handle the enterprise space. We are a 25 person company and they can not handle our needs at all never mind a larger organization. We have had 6 major fonality caused phone outages this year. Their support is abismal, and we have issues that have been in place since day 1 that are still not resolved in 14 months. Don’t even get me started on thier QA program for software updates… sufise to say 48 hour outage, and 5 days for full resolution following a ‘painless 15 second update’.
I have never dealt with ANY company as horrible as Fonality. Our “promise you the world” Sales man Chris “something or other” quit or was fired about a month after our purchase. We bought the top of the line setup they offered HP Server/ Call Center Etc.. all the bells and whistles.
What we got was a broke pile of crap. Hoping for a multiple site solution, we quickly leaned that after purchasing Fortigate Firewalls @900 a pop, which they suggested both on the phone and in their Knowledge base, are well.. less than compatible!
Nice! Of course support never told us that because support only has the ability to ask questions and give absurd solutions
Have you tried this?? Or maybe this??? I think you need to try doing this.. oh thats your problem did you do this?? Hmm that is odd.. maybe the solar radiation that day was out of wack try moving your location to a 4 foot thick lead vault.. let us know after you have done that thanks… WTF
In case many of you did not know… This is the core of Fonality’s support staff

Maybe it’s a joke, and maybe it isn’t.
I currently have 6 Dead Phones which they blame my DHCP Server for, odd because it has plenty of open registration, and oh look it just registered this phone over here. How wonderful. To bad the 6 other phones are broken and can’t communicate with the DHCP Server, maybe it’s the solar flare thinggy again!
My current solution for this glorious “multiple site” phone system is to use cell phones. *sigh*
Fuck Fonality!
If I can make one recommendation, don’t try and save money with your phone system. Go with that local company, you know the one that gave you the quote that made you blow coffee out your nose, trust me you’ll be so very thankful you did!
When you buy Fonality by ready for this. I paid over $500 extra for HP server with next business day on site service. Fonality shipped faulty server and sent me this email:
As I mentioned in my call, we have posted a detailed article on our website that explain the issue and provides a solution. The article is located here:

When I asked about the HP warranty I got this:
HP support may work, though I can\’t say for sure since I have not spoken
with their support team. But if you absolutely need someone on site
that will be your best bet.
Well it looks we are on our own… I don\’t like this and I am not happy with them. I just wish I could return the whole phone system back to them.
