On any given day, I clean out between 25 and 50 spam comments from my moderation queue. (Incidentally, if you don’t have a hyperlink in your comment, it doesn’t get moderated.) Here are a few of my favorites that I see again and again:
I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.
If you see a turtle on a fence post, he has had some help.
What is the difference between “light†and “hard You can sleep with a light on.
Then, there are the pathetic fraternization comments:
You have many friends that post in your guestbook – it is cool!
This web-site is the coolest!
Now I dont have to feel so intimated by science!I think you’re on the right track with that post! Visit my site for more.
One of the things that has always intrigued me about spam is the question of whether or not it really works. I mean, if you can publish a decent blog with real content, people will link to you. Splogs are obvious to spot and tough to read, because you can just tell that the author behind them doesn’t care about the content, only about how he’s defrauding Google with his AdWords. I guess you can call it ‘2.0 spam’. I hope the trend subsides, although, judging by the neverending deluge of SMTP spam, it ain’t gonna quit any time soon.
