Not enough people know just how far ahead of all the competition the Amiga was when it was first released. Unfortunately, Commodore did nothing with it and never succeeded at marketing the Amiga to fund the development of sustained improvements to allow the Amiga to stay ahead of its competitors. A great idea and product left to wither, now only kept alive by the users that refuse to let it die.

You’re so right. I discovered the Amiga about 15-16 years ago. At the time the music, video, and graphics were lightyears ahead of everything else.

It just so happened that the other week I was looking at Amiga OS evolution.

Damn I thought, it would appear that since Microsoft gained dominance of the OS, things have been on cruise control.

With the Amiga back in 1985 we had a 4096 multi-tasking, GUI driven machine with 8 channel stereo sound running n half a meg of ram!

It’s a shame that computer innovation has been on told but at least telephony is now being democratised!
