8×8 ATA patent–if anybody deserves it, they do?

Andy points out that 8×8 was awarded a patent for the device we all refer to as the ATA, the analog telephone adapter that connects your VoIP calls to Vonage, Packet8 (8×8′s daughter company) and other VoIP services. If 8×8 has indeed been awarded the ATA patent, I can’t think of a better outfit to earn the recognition. If I’m not mistaken, 8×8 developed one of the first true residential-style ATAs (if not THE first one). And I believe theirs was on the market as a catalyst for Packet8 long before Sipura hit the scene. Correct me if I’m wrong.
